Praise for Renderings:
Renderings, a multifaceted title. One that offers, provides, depicts multitudes of meaning, which—by transference—Sridhar crafts in poems. A witness to the variety of ‘her’ being: a “dream-house,” “imaginings” of false or real-self. Sridhar hands over mantras, delivers judgements, restores oneself between landscapes, processes colours, shades and whiteness, translates language and gender, conceptualizes place, covertly sends messages of birthing and bearing, purifies and taints motherhood, builds and loses home, and gives up time, essentially sharing an abundant performance of poetic songs.
- Sonia Di Placido, author of Flesh, The Akashic Wood, Exaltation in Cadmium Red, Forest Primitive, and Vulva Magic
Imbrued with surprise violences of colour, tactile music, and an immediacy “gathered / together in personal revolutions,” a poem by Archana Sridhar is less a poem and more a means by which to inflect silence so we can hear it better, “a fragile wall between the then / and the now, sharpened to a surprise,” the distance between where you are now and an immediate cliff to remind you where your heartbeat is.
- Kevin Heslop, author of the correct fury of your why is a mountain (forthcoming), there is no minor violence just as there is no negligible cough in an aria, and con/tig/u/us
